11-year-old arrested after racially aggravated assault in Chorley park
Investigation ongoing as officers seek second suspect
An update has been provided on a disturbing incident that occurred at Harpers Recreation Ground in Chorley over the weekend, involving a racially aggravated assault against a child.
On Saturday, 5th September, police were called at 6:28 PM after a six-year-old boy playing in the park was approached by two older children. The boy had racist words written on his forehead and arm with a marker pen, and offensive graffiti was discovered on a slide within the play area.
The child and his family are being supported, and the police are treating the incident with utmost seriousness.
Following thorough investigations, an 11-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated criminal damage and racially aggravated assault. He has been bailed pending further inquiries, and efforts remain ongoing to identify a second suspect involved.
