The family of a woman found dead in her home in Southport are describing her as 'fun loving, kind and considerate'

The body of the woman, in her 50s, was discovered by ambulance crews in a flat on Meols Cop Road on Wednesday night (26 February).

Officers have now confirmed her identity as 52-year-old Cathy Doherty.

Two men - a 48-year-old from Kirkdale and a 60-year-old from Ainsdale were taken into custody on suspicion of murder and released on bail.

Investigations are ongoing to find out exactly what happened - but we understand her death is being treated as unexplained.

Cathy's family issued the following statement:

"We are all devastated by the loss of our sister Cathy.

“She was fun loving, kind and considerate.

“She will be greatly missed by all her family.

“Please can we ask that your respect our privacy at this traumatic time.”
