Blackpool Transport crowned top bus operator in the UK
Fylde coast company earns Bus Operator of the Year award
Blackpool Transport has been named the top bus operator in the UK after winning the prestigious Bus Operator of the Year award.
The announcement came during a high-profile event held in London on 25th November 2025, where the company also received the Gold Award in the small to medium-sized operator category at the UK Bus Awards.
The awards recognised Blackpool Transport’s efforts to improve its services to better meet the needs of both residents and visitors to the Fylde coast over the past year. This included launching new branded services such as Cleveleys Connections and Lytham Line, as well as boosting early morning, evening and weekend service options across the network. The upgrades have been welcomed by passengers, with ‘mystery passengers’ praising the improvements during the awards judging process.
Jane Cole, Managing Director of Blackpool Transport, expressed her pride in the team’s achievement:
“To win this accolade is a fantastic achievement for the entire Blackpool Transport team, especially as we faced very strong competition from much larger operators.
“It is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our employees as they strive to deliver the best service possible to residents and the millions of visitors who flock to the Fylde coast every year for a holiday or day out.
“Importantly, it is also a huge vote of confidence in the changes we are making to deliver a bus service that Blackpool and surrounding towns can be proud of.”
The recognition for Blackpool Transport follows its recent success at the National Transport Awards, where it was named Tram Operator of the Year.
