Blackpool RNLI volunteers conducted a successful rescue operation off the South Promenade near Sandcastle yesterday.

The call came at 1.48pm on Thursday during high water conditions with waves reaching the sea wall.

The D class Blackpool Endeavour lifeboat was swiftly deployed by the volunteers to locate and recover the casualty, who was being swept towards South Pier.

Despite challenging conditions, the crew successfully brought the individual back to the Lifeboat Station slipway while providing immediate care.

On their return, the North West Ambulance Service was waiting to transport the casualty to Blackpool Victoria Hospital for further treatment.

RNLI volunteer Launch Authority Rick commended the crew's actions, noting the difficult conditions they faced during the rescue.

This operation marked volunteer Jack's first call since qualifying for the D class, highlighting the collaborative team effort.

The RNLI reminds the public to contact the Coastguard on 999 if anything concerning is seen on the beach or sea.
