Search for Blackpool man and friend missing after kayaking trip in Wales stood down
UPDATE: A major multi-agency search for a Blackpool man and his friend, who were last seen near a beach with inflatable kayaks in North Wales, has been stood down.
Connor Parfitt, 24, from Blackpool, and his work friend Simon were last seen near the beach off Hafan-y-Mor, near Pwllheli, at around 6.30pm on Tuesday, July 21.
Connor had travelled to the area around three weeks ago to start a job at the Haven caravan site.
The pair are believed to have headed towards the coast with inflatable kayaks, but have not been seen since.
HM Coastguard has confirmed it was called at 12.19pm on Thursday, July 23, to assist North Wales Police with a search for two overdue kayakers at Pwllheli.
Coastguard Rescue Teams from Criccieth, Abersoch and Llandwrog were sent to the scene, along with RNLI lifeboats from Criccieth and Abersoch, an HM Coastguard search and rescue helicopter and a Coastguard aeroplane.
Extensive searches were carried out, but with no trace of the missing people, the operation was stood down pending further information at around 10.21pm.
Connor’s brother, Aaron, previously said the family last heard from him at around 6.30pm on Tuesday and have had no contact since.
He said the family were facing “so many questions and no answers” and asked for the appeal to be shared as widely as possible.
North Wales Police have been approached for a further statement.
