Giant 12-tonne sandcastle appears on Blackpool Promenade
It's been built to celebrate British landmarks
A 12-tonne sandcastle has been built on Blackpool Promenade just in time for the summer holidays.
The giant sculpture features five famous UK landmarks including:
- the Tower of London
- Edinburgh Castle
- Stonehenge
- the Eden Project
- and Loch Ness
It's been created after rail industry data suggests Blackpool will be the UK's most popular beach destination this summer.
The sandcastle was commissioned by Railcard and built by sand sculpture artists Sand In Your Eye.
It was completed this morning (22 July) and will stay on the Promenade for the rest of the week and over the weekend.
