MP Adnan Hussain takes action against antisocial behaviour in Blackburn
Concerns grow over violence and intimidation in town centre
Last updated 8th Oct 2026
Adnan Hussain, Member of Parliament for Blackburn, is taking action to address rising reports of antisocial behaviour and violence in the town centre, particularly around the bus station.
Recent incidents include people wearing balaclavas speeding on e-bikes, fireworks being thrown at pedestrians, and a group entering a business with one person carrying a large knife. A 27-year-old was chased and assaulted after helping a homeless man, while a bus station security officer was attacked.
Hussain, expressing concern over these issues, has engaged with local police and community services to find solutions to these ongoing problems.
He has met with town centre policing teams, council's community safety officers, and Blackburn BID security personnel, highlighting stretched resources and the need for coordinated action.
Plans include pressing for a coordinated effort involving police, council, transport operators, and town centre managers with clear responsibilities and actions.
Hussain is advocating for measures such as Public Spaces Protection Orders and increased funding for targeted enforcement to tackle the issues and protect Blackburn’s vibrant community.
He aims to complement enforcement with prevention efforts alongside schools, colleges, and youth services.
Residents who continue to face antisocial behaviour are encouraged to contact Hussain’s office for assistance.
