Two teenagers died after car went into water near Iwade

A 17-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl have died after the car they were in went into water near Old Ferry Road in Iwade on Saturday night.

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 8.30pm on 3rd January 2026 following reports of a blue Ford Fiesta leaving the carriageway.

The incident led to road closures between Raspberry Hill Lane and Sheppey Way while police, paramedics, and Kent Fire and Rescue Service worked to assist those involved.

Two of the car’s occupants were pronounced dead, and a third, a 16-year-old girl, was taken to a local hospital for treatment and has since been discharged.

Flowers tributes have been left near the scene of the crash.

Police appeal for witnesses

Detectives from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are now asking anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the collision, or who has relevant dashcam or CCTV footage, to contact them.

Dashcam and CCTV footage can be submitted directly via Kent Police’s online system.
