A third person has died after a collision between a truck and a pony and trap, Kent Police have said.

A white DAF tipper truck was being driven on the southbound carriageway of A228 Boyle Way in East Peckham, near Tonbridge, on April 1 when it collided with the horse-drawn carriage travelling in the same direction.

Emergency services attended the scene between the junctions of Bandridges Road and Hale Street after the incident, which occurred at 6.25pm, and confirmed a man in his 30s travelling in the trap had died.

A young girl and woman in the trap were taken to hospital, where the child was confirmed dead.

The woman died in hospital on April 9, the police said on Friday.

A 29-year-old man, who was driving the tipper, was previously arrested on suspicion of causing death and serious injury by dangerous driving and driving whilst unfit.

The man, from Kent, was taken into custody and has since been released on bail pending further inquiries, the force added.
