Swale residents urged to help tidy up beaches, woodlands and green spaces
The Council is organising a series of litter picks and clean-up events
People across Swale are being urged to help tidy up beaches, woodlands and green spaces during this year’s Great British Spring Clean.
The event kicks off on Friday 13th March where millions of people around the country will be working together to litter pick and take environmental action.
Equipment will be provided for all of the events, but people are advised to wear gloves, appropriate shoes and dress for the weather.
Locations include Sheerness, the Isle of Sheppey, and Sittingbourne - you can see the full list here.
Cllr Dolley Wooster chair of the Environmental Services and Climate Change Committee, said:
“We are incredibly proud of our natural environment here in Swale and strive to maintain and improve our seafronts, woodlands and green spaces for everyone to enjoy.
“The annual Great British Spring Clean gives us a fantastic opportunity to join forces with millions of people across the country to make a real positive impact on our neighbourhoods.
“If you have some time to spare, please come along to as many events as you can, it is a fantastic opportunity to get out into nature and fresh air, while getting active and socialising with likeminded people.
“We can’t wait to see everyone working together to help give Swale a lovely spring clean.”
All the events are weather dependent with updates posted on the council’s social media or their climate action website.
