Police have assured the public that there is no broader risk following a series of drug and firearms-related searches in Ashford and Sittingbourne.

Officers executed an S8 Misuse of Drugs warrant yesterday, focusing on an ongoing investigation in Surrey.

This included earlier warrants at a residential address in Bletchingley and a wooded area in Lingfield.

In Ashford, a man in his 50s and a woman in her 60s were arrested on charges related to the Firearms Act 1968, with the man also facing suspicion of cannabis cultivation.

A man in his 40s was arrested separately in Surrey on suspicion of cultivating cannabis.

Surrey Police enlisted specialist resources to manage the searches due to the potentially hazardous items involved.

Several firearms were seized, and an Explosive Ordinance Disposal team were called to address powder found on-site, ensuring the safe removal of items.

Police have confirmed there is no wider threat to the public and stated that no additional individuals are being pursued concerning the investigation.
