A man who raped a teenage girl at a Halloween party in Ramsgate has been jailed.

Angelos Ntolakai, 23, forced himself upon the victim who had fallen asleep in a friend's bed on 29th October 2022.

After reporting the incident to Kent Police, detectives launched a major investigation, obtaining forensic samples from male attendees of the party.

DNA analysis identified a match with Ntolakai, who was subsequently arrested on 15th March 2023.

Despite initially responding 'no comment' during interviews, Ntolakai later provided a prepared statement attributing his poor recollection to alcohol consumption, suggesting any sexual activity was consensual.

During a four-day trial at Canterbury Crown Court, Ntolakai pled not guilty to the charge of rape.

However, the jury returned a unanimous guilty verdict, resulting in a sentence of five years and seven months' imprisonment.

He will also be added to the sex offenders register for life.

Detective Constable Chris Harvey commented: "This custodial sentence was based heavily on the strength of the DNA and forensic information gathered by the investigation team, as well as the crucial input of witnesses who collaborated with us and provided key evidence.

"The victim personal statement read out at court made clear the impact that this attack has had on her life, and I hope this sentence provides the victim and her family with some sense of justice and closure."
