Police refer Westerham motorbike collision to watchdog after rider sustains serious injuries
19-year-old's crash prompts mandatory referral to Independent Office for Police Conduct
An electric motorbike collision in Westerham that left a 19-year-old rider with serious injuries has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
The incident took place on Thursday 26th February 2026 at approximately 10.10am on High Street, near the junction with New Street.
The rider of a white OneMX electric motorcycle crashed into a building while traveling north from Edenbridge.
A police car had followed the motorbike prior to its entry into High Street, where the collision was later discovered.
The rider was taken to a London hospital, where his condition is described as stable.
In light of the circumstances, a mandatory referral has been made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage, seeking assistance in their investigation of the incident.
