Man arrested after elderly woman attacked with scissors in Chatham

The woman in her 80s was taken to hospital for injuries caused by stab wounds

A man has been charged following a serious assault in Chatham, which left a woman in her 80s with injuries consistent with stab wounds.

Police were called just after 2pm on Saturday 14 March to reports of a woman being attacked with scissors outside a private property on The Chase.

The elderly woman was taken to hospital for further treatment to her injuries that are not thought to be life threatening.

A man was also reportedly assaulted by the suspect, who was unknown to the victims, before officers located and arrested him at 2.31pm.

25-year-old Orlando Foster, from Gillingham, has been charged with wounding with intent, causing actual bodily harm and making threats with a bladed weapon in public.

He has been remanded in custody.

Foster will appear at Medway Magistrates' Court on Monday 16 March.
