Yellow weather warning issued for Kent as heavy rain and high winds approach
Flooding and travel disruptions anticipated with large waves on the east coast
Residents across Kent are urged to prepare for adverse weather as a yellow warning for rain is in effect from 6:00 AM today until 8:00 AM tomorrow.
The MET Office forecasts heavy spells of rain potentially leading to flooding and travel disruptions, especially in the west and southeast regions of Kent.
East-facing coastal areas, including those along the English Channel, may experience large waves due to the strong east to north-easterly winds accompanying the wet weather, warns the MET office.
Some areas of southern England could experience between 10-20 mm of rain, with certain locations seeing up to 30 mm near the south coast. Dartmoor may receive as much as 50 mm.
Forecasters also predict snow over higher ground, primarily during Wednesday night.
The MET office advice to plan accordingly by checking your property's risk of flooding and having an emergency flood kit ready.
Journey-makers should monitor road conditions and public transport timetables for any necessary adjustments to travel plans.
Preparation for potential power cuts is advised, including gathering torches, batteries, and mobile phone power packs.
Stay informed of any changes in weather warnings by keeping updated with local forecasts and the MET office website.
