A food bank in Kent has told us 'under pressure parents' are already 'desperate' to feed their children this summer.

After schools broke up on Friday, Nourish in Tunbridge Wells says it has seen a 50% increase in demand for its services, going from 100 food parcel deliveries last week to 150 this week.

1 in 5 children are in poverty in Tunbridge Wells and Dawn Stanford from Nourish - explains the impact this is having on families, she said: "It's the things you can't control.

"It the unexpected rise in a bill or your car breaking down, if you suddenly have to drop hours because the business you work for is struggling, it's all those unexpected changes."

"People will already be thinking about uniform for September, with their kids going to another school, up a year or just growing.

"Parents sit down to think about these expenses and they suddenly work out what they've got to spend compared to what they've got coming and the gap is ever more apparent this year.

"When i speak to parents this is causing upset and desperation, they've been very hard conversations to have. If we don't step in, if we aren't there, they won't eat."
