Fire crews have been tackling a large wildfire on Dartford Heath.

The fire broke out at around 5pm yesterday evening (4 July), with six crews sent to the scene.

At the height of the blaze, Kent Fire and Rescue Service advised people living nearby to keep windows and doors closed due to the smoke.

In an update last night. the service said: "There are no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is not known.

"A revisit is planned for tomorrow morning (Saturday 5 July) to check on any remaining hotspots."

It added: "Following this incident, crews are urging people to follow simple safety advice to help prevent wildfires this summer."
