Witnesses and dashcam footage sought after double fatal crash near Pembury

Police are asking for public assistance following a tragic incident

A tragic accident on the A228 Pembury Northern Bypass has led Kent Police to call for witness accounts and dashcam footage as they investigate the circumstances of the crash.

At 11.43am on Monday 18th May 2026, a silver Renault Megane travelling from Pembury towards Whetsted left the carriageway on the nearside and entered woodland before colliding with trees.

Investigation underway following crash

Officers from Kent Police, alongside paramedics, attended the scene of the crash, which occurred between Tonbridge Road and Old Church Road.

The 64-year-old driver, a local man, suffered fatal injuries and was declared dead at the scene.

The passenger, a 60-year-old local woman, was airlifted to a London hospital but sadly succumbed to her injuries.

Kent Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit is actively conducting enquiries to better understand how the incident occurred.

How to provide information

Witnesses who saw the collision or noticed the vehicle before the incident are urged to come forward.

Motorists who were in the area during the incident are asked to review any dashcam footage they may have captured.
