Arrest made after alleged serious assault and van theft in Maidstone
A man in his 50s was found with stab wounds this morning
A man has been arrested following an alleged serious assault and the theft of a van in Maidstone.
Officers were called to Reculver Walk at 7.44am this morning (Saturday 18th July 2026), where it is alleged a man in his early 50s was attacked by two individuals.
Kent Police say the victim reportedly suffered stab wound injuries - and his white Sprinter van was stolen during the incident.
He received initial treatment from paramedics before being transported to a London hospital, where his condition is considered serious but stable.
Investigation in Maidstone
A search of the area led to the discovery of the victim's van on Woolley Road, along with a recovered knife in Reculver Walk.
With further inquiries, armed police apprehended a 45-year-old man in Swanscombe later the same morning.
He was taken into custody.
Appeal for Information
Investigators are now urging witnesses who have not yet spoken with police to come forward.
Motorists who have dashcams and residents with private CCTV are also requested to review their footage for any relevant information.
