West Midlands Railway (WMR) will operate on a reduced timetable, starting from today (22nd May) and Saturday 23rd May due to strike action undertaken by TSSA union members.

Passengers are advised to travel only if necessary as WMR will provide a limited number of services on select routes.

Train routes affected include:

  • Cross City Line (Lichfield Trent Valley to Redditch/Bromsgrove via Birmingham New Street) with two trains per hour.
  • Wolverhampton to Walsall via Birmingham New Street with one train per hour.
  • Rugeley Trent Valley to Birmingham International via Birmingham New Street with one train per hour.

There will be no services after 7pm on Friday, and services will resume at 7am on Saturday. No other routes, including those via Birmingham Snow Hill, Camp Hill Line, or between Nuneaton and Leamington Spa, will have services running.

Passengers are encouraged to check Journey Planners for accurate timings. Some displacement of trains may cause minor disruption on the morning of Sunday 24th May.

Ian McConnell, WMR's managing director, said: “We encourage TSSA to continue talks with us to reach a resolution to this dispute. This strike action will cause disruption to our customers with a significantly reduced timetable in operation on both dates.

"We are doing all we can to minimise the impact as far as possible and apologise to customers for the inconvenience. However, where services are running, we advise customers to only travel if necessary and to allow more time for their journey."
