Three arrested after stealing £2,000 in fragrances across West Mercia
The three people arrested currently remain in police custody
Three people have been arrested after perfume bottles with fragrances worth up to £2,000 were stolen across West Mercia.
West Mercia Police confirmed that perfume bottles had been stolen at a Boots shop on Weavers Wharf in Kidderminster at around 12:45pm on Tuesday (October 27th).
Eyewitnesses had reported three people being involved in the theft - who had already fled the scene when officers arrived to investigate.
Later that afternoon, just after 4pm - West Mercia Police were alerted to an incident taking place on Trinity Way near Shrewsbury as a delivery driver's van was stolen.
A pursuit was instigated and the van was eventually located, with two men - aged 22 and 35 - and a 22-year-old woman being arrested.
The force confirmed that all three currently remain in police custody as enquiries into the incident continue.
Police are also working to establish the connection between the two incidents, but have said they believe the two are linked.
Speaking on the arrests, Sergeant Amanda Hayward said: "This was a brazen theft that saw around £2,000 worth of fragrances stolen from a store in Kidderminster before those involved travelled on, and were linked to the theft of a delivery van in Shrewsbury later the same day.
"Thanks to the swift response of our Roads Policing Unit and local response officers, the stolen van was quickly located and three people were promptly arrested. Their rapid actions meant we were able to ensure those suspected of being involved in the two incident taken into custody."
