Two supermarkets to clash in charity football match

Evesham will be the backdrop for a charitable football match where staff from Tesco and Morrisons compete to raise funds for St Richard's Hospice.
The annual event, known as the Retail Challenge Cup, will take place on Sunday 26th July at Evesham United Football Club’s Jubilee Stadium.
Organised by Mark Payne, who has worked at Tesco for 30 years, the match commemorates his mother, Gill, who died of breast cancer in 1997 at age 54.
Mark Payne said: “The match is in memory of my mum Gill, who passed away in December 1997 from breast cancer, aged 54.“
“She was cared for by the nurses at St Richard’s Hospice, so I decided to start the Retail Challenge Cup the following year in 1998.“
“And here we are, still going 28 years later, and we’ve raised over £30,000 for St Richard’s so far!”
This year marks the 28th edition of the friendly rivalry, which aims to foster community spirit while raising money for hospice care.
Kick-off is scheduled for 5pm, with entry priced at £3 for adults and £2 for children under the age of 16.
Funds raised from this event will support St Richard's Hospice in providing free care to individuals within the community.
