Two men have been arrested after a police pursuit following reports of garages being broken into and a van being stolen in Drakes Broughton.

It happened just after midnight on Thursday (23rd April) when police received reports about the break-ins in Woodleigh.

Officers pursued a white Peugeot van displaying false number plates, which failed to stop and mounted a kerb, causing minor damage to a police car and a property.

Two men in their 20s were arrested at the scene on suspicion of theft of motor vehicle and taken into custody.

They have since been bailed pending further enquiries.

At the location in Woodleigh, police also identified a stolen Subaru with cloned plates and discovered two additional sets of cloned plates inside along with bolt cutters near the scene.

Safer Neighbourhood Inspector for Wychavon, Dave Wise, said: “This was a good job by our response officers, acting quickly to apprehend two suspects following reports of garages being broken into in Drakes Broughton.

“Two men were arrested on suspicion of stealing the van and another car of interest was also found during the incident. An investigation has been launched and enquiries are ongoing.

“I hope this shows the public how seriously we take burglary and vehicle theft offences - we know it's a priority in particular for our rural villages, and we will do everything we can to deter offences and pursue offenders.”
