A 19-year-old man from Tipton has been sentenced to two years and nine months behind bars after pleading guilty to drug supply and weapon possession in Redditch.

Romeo Haines, from Tame Road in Tipton, appeared at Worcester Crown Court on 15th April, where he admitted to charges including possession with intent to supply class A drugs and possession of an offensive weapon.

The case dates back to 23rd September when officers of the Redditch Safer Neighbourhood Team made an address check at a property on Salters Lane in Redditch.

Upon arrival, police discovered Haines inside the living room with a substantial quantity of suspected class A drugs. These were later confirmed to be crack cocaine and heroin.

Additionally, authorities retrieved cannabis, approximately £400 in cash, and two mobile phones.

During the search, a machete was found concealed in Haines’ waistband.

Detective Constable Michael Vince from Proactive CID emphasised the importance of the case.

“This case highlights our continued efforts to tackle drug supply and the possession of dangerous weapons within our communities,” he said.

“The recovery of a machete in these circumstances is particularly concerning, and we remain committed to removing both drugs and weapons from our streets.”
