A 32-year-old from Rubery has been sentenced to eight months in prison, suspended for 18 months, after pleading guilty to possession with intent to supply cannabis.

James Morris, of Maple Road, appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court where his sentence was handed out.

He has also been ordered to complete 25 days of rehabilitation activity, 100 hours of unpaid work, pay a victim surcharge of £107, and cover £85 in costs.

Drugs and paraphernalia seized during the investigation will be forfeited and destroyed.

His conviction followed a police operation executed by Proactive CID and the Integrated Offender Management team at his home.

Officers found cannabis with an estimated street value of £5,000.

DC Michael Vince from Proactive CID commented on the case: “While there was no immediate custodial sentence for Morris, our actions in executing a warrant at his address and his subsequent conviction have further disrupted the criminal narcotics supply in the West Mercia force area.

“The harmful impact of illegal drugs and the criminality linked to it on our communities is well documented and we will continue to track down, pursue and disrupt those who seek to ply their illegal trade here.”

Residents are encouraged to report any suspected drug activity in their area via West Mercia Police's online reporting service.

Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously through Crimestoppers by either contacting them online or calling 0800 555 111.
