Ross Regatta 2026 cancelled due to low water levels in the River Wye
Unsafe conditions force organisers to cancel event
Ross Rowing Club has announced the cancellation of Ross Regatta 2026 due to exceptionally low water levels in the River Wye.
The decision, made by the Regatta Committee, came after predictions indicated a lack of significant rainfall over the next two weeks, making the river unsafe for competition.
Despite exploring every possibility to hold the event, the committee concluded that proceeding with the regatta would not be feasible under current conditions.
The cancellation aims to allow attendees to make alternative plans for the August Bank Holiday weekend.
Entry fees already paid will be refunded.
While disappointment is inevitable, organisers are looking ahead to the next regatta, scheduled for the August Bank Holiday weekend in 2027.
