Stories and photographs over a time spanning eight decades have helped form a new exhibition to celebrate the University of Worcester's anniversary.

The university is marking 80 years this year since it started out as a emergency teacher training college in 1946 following the Second World War.

It was granted full university status back in 2005, with the new 'Inspired for Life: University of Worcester 80th Anniversary' exhibition being launched earlier this week at The Hive to highlight how it has developed.

Dr Theresa Oakley is the university's special collections and archives librarian who has curated it over the past 10 months, she said it has taken plenty of hard but it's great to see it finally all come together.

"Although we had got some material, it wasn't organised properly or anything," she said.

"So it's been very much a case of me learning what we've actually got in the archive and then making connections with people both within the university and outside the university.

"I've made some really good connections with alumni and we had a couple of alumni staff members who came and spoke at the launch event on Monday who were absolutely fantastic."

She added, they're in need of more photographs, memorabilia or other archive material from the 1970s to the 1990s from former students and staff so they could add it all to their records.

The exhibition is set to remain on display at The Hive until the 9 October.
