A Redditch man has been banned from entering certain areas in the town for three years after breaching a Public Space Protection Order.

Kamil Novak, 29, of Salters Lane, Redditch received a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) at Worcester Magistrates Court on Monday, 9th February, prohibiting him from visiting several locations until 9th February 2029.

The specific sites Novak cannot access include Trafford Retail Park, Unicorn Hill, Tesco on Coldfield Drive, and B&Q on Jinnah Road.

The CBO also restricts Novak from other behaviours, such as possessing open alcohol containers in public where consumption is not allowed, refusing to leave certain premises when requested by someone who has the authority to do so, urinating in public place, save for public toilets, and causing nuisances to businesses, the community and members of the public.

Novak was ordered to pay a total fine of £240, alongside costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £48, having been found guilty of two instances of failing to comply with the PSPO in March and July last year.

Police Sergeant Katie Ward, from Redditch town centre team, said:

“Working with our partners at Redditch Borough Council we introduced a Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) in the town centre in 2024 for three years. This is to help us prevent the actions of the small minority who cause antisocial behaviour (ASB) from ruining it for the majority.

“We said we would enforce the PSPO where appropriate and I believe this court result shows we are doing so.

“As a result of action taken, we are pleased to get this CBO for Novak which will help us to protect the public from his ASB that has no doubt upset those who live and work in Redditch.”

Redditch Borough Council’s Portfolio Holder for Community Services and Safeguarding Responsibilities, Cllr Monica Stringfellow, said:

“This is why the borough council authorised the town centre PSPO - to support our partners to have the tools they need to keep Redditch safe.”
