Future of Kidderminster Harriers stadium to be decided
Wyre Forest District Council is to discuss selling Aggborough Stadium to the football club
Wyre Forest District Council is set to decide whether to sell Aggborough Stadium, along with its car park and sports and social club, to Kidderminster Harriers Football Club.
The move follows the club’s request last year to acquire the assets, aiming to turn their long-time home into a modernised hub for fans and the community.
No other expressions of interest were received when the Council announced plans to dispose of the assets in October, with the notification deadline closing on 4th December.
Aggborough Stadium has been home to the club for over 130 years. The club’s vision outlines ambitious plans to create a flexible and welcoming space, benefiting both match day attendees and community members in the area.
Councillor David Ross, Cabinet Member for Finance and Capital Portfolio, expressed support for the proposal.
“Kidderminster Harriers FC is a fundamental part of the town with a long-standing relationship with local government. We want the club to succeed and be sustainable. Having a successful club in the town brings many benefits, not only does it have an economic impact it also brings social, community and civic benefits. By selling the assets to the Harriers, we believe it will cement their base in the town for years to come,” Ross said.
Richard Lane, Chairman of Kidderminster Harriers FC, thanked the Council’s Cabinet and shared his hopes for the sale.
“Aggborough Stadium has been the home of our fantastic football club for generations and, as far as I am concerned, always should be for future generations,” Lane said.
“We’ve made incredible progress as a club over the last five years, to move forward with the same ambition we have exciting modernisation plans to improve our facilities at Aggborough, providing better matchday supporters experience, support community and business engagement, ultimately to build a sustainable community asset that we can be proud of. We welcome and thank the WFDC Cabinet Members for positively considering our proposal and look forward to a decision where Aggborough remains at the heart of our football club and community for many years to come.”
A report on the proposal is set to be discussed at the Overview and Scrutiny committee meeting on 5th February 2026 at 6pm. Any recommendations made will then be considered by the Council’s Cabinet at its meeting on 11th February 2026 at 6pm.
Both meetings will be webcast and can be viewed online via the Council’s streaming service.
