A man has been arrested after a house fire in Kidderminster.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Stourbridge Road at around 1:50pm yesterday (April 14).

West Mercia Police say a 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of arson and remains in police custody.

The force have also confirmed that no one was injured during the fire and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

Detective Inspector Lisa Tibbitts said: “I am appealing to anybody who may have any information that could help with our enquires into the fire.

“In particular we are aware of a group of people who were walking towards the flats on Stourbridge Road, who we believe are key witnesses and I urge them to contact us.

“I’m thankful that nobody was injured as a result of the fire and following initial enquiries we believe this to be an isolated incident that posed no wider threat to the local community.”
