Police are investigating the death of a woman in her 90s following a house fire in Gloucester during the early hours of Sunday, 16th August.
Emergency services were called to a fire at a residence on Elmgrove Road West in Hardwicke shortly before 4am.
Officers and crews from both the fire and ambulance services attended the scene.
Inside the property, a woman was found unconscious.
Despite CPR efforts by emergency services, she was sadly pronounced dead.
Her next of kin has been informed.
A woman in her 60s from Gloucester has been arrested on suspicion of murder and arson with intent to endanger life.
She remains in police custody for questioning.
Police assured the public that all individuals involved in the incident are known to each other, suggesting this was an isolated occurrence.
