A free programme of events and support hopes to bring community to older people in rural Tewkesbury.

The "Live Longer Better" community drop-in sessions are taking place across east Tewkesbury.

They have been created in partnership with the NHS, this initiative aims to promote healthy ageing, boost wellbeing, and connect individuals with local services.

Following a successful event in Winchcombe last year, the programme will include three free sessions in Alderton, Toddington, and Gretton throughout autumn 2026.

Each session offers information, advice, and activities to residents facing loneliness, health challenges, financial pressures, or simply wanting to engage more with their community.

Numerous local organisations from the health, wellbeing, voluntary, and community sectors have committed to supporting the free sessions.

Councillor Debbie Harwood, Lead Member for Communities and Engagement, said, “These sessions are a fantastic opportunity for older residents to find out more about the support available within their local communities.

By bringing services directly into our villages, we can help people stay active, connected and independent while ensuring they know where to turn when they need advice or assistance.”

Plans to extend the programme are being explored based on venue availability, local demand, and partner capacity.
