Awards to recognise young people making a difference in Cheltenham
The No Child Left Behind awards celebrate those who have gone the extra mile to make positive change in their communities.
Young people, groups and projects making a difference across Cheltenham are being recognised at the No Child Left Behind Awards.
The awards celebrate those who have gone the extra mile to make positive change in their communities and nominations are now open.
The awards ceremony will take place on Thursday 4th February 2027 at Cheltenham Town Hall, hosted by venue sponsor The Cheltenham Trust and held in association with Punchline-Gloucester.com.
Speaking to Cllr Jamie Jamieson, cabinet member for safety and communities, he told us why the awards matter.
''We constantly hear bad news on the radio, on TV, on social media, of course. And so we're doing our best to draw attention to another narrative that there are tonnes of people out there doing wonderful things in their community.''
Some of the award categories include: Together Against Bullying, Business For Change, Closing The Gap, Safety and Belonging and The Community Changemaker award.. plus many more!
Jamie told us more about the work No Child Left Behind does to tackle child poverty in Cheltenham.
He said, ''No Child Left Behind is the name for a large group of organisations that work together to alleviate poverty, to help children living in less than desirable circumstances and who don't have the same life opportunities as many of their peers.''
''There are lots of people who participate in the No Child Left Behind organisation. We call ourselves a board. We meet regularly, but there are literally dozens of organisations who work with us.''
He added, ''None of us have lots of money to throw around, but by aligning all of our work, we're able to achieve things. Collaboration is a wonderful thing. And these awards are a really good example of that.''
Nominations open until Sunday 8th November 2026.
