A man and woman from Birmingham have appeared in court charged with the murder of a man in the Cotswolds in 2024.

Adina Mihai, aged 30, and Madalin Dumitru, aged 29, both formerly of Sandway Gardens have been charged with the murder of 83-year-old Malcolm King at an address in Bagendon near Cirencester on 21 August 2024.

Following a joint investigation by Gloucestershire Police and Thames Valley Police the pair have also been charged with one alternative count of manslaughter, one count of administering poison so as to inflict grievous bodily harm (GBH), plus an alternative count of administering poison and one count of conspiracy to steal in relation to the same incident.

After an appearance at Oxford Crown Court on Friday (24 April) Mihai and Dumitru entered not guilty pleas to a total of 19 charges.

The pair had previously been charged by Thames Valley Police in relation to the death of Gary Mouat, aged 37, at an address in Hazeldene Gardens, Banbury, on 13 July last year.

In relation to this incident, they have both been charged with one count of murder, plus an alternative count of manslaughter, one count of administering poison so as to inflict grievous bodily harm (GBH), an alternative count of administering poison and one count of conspiracy to steal.

Mihai and Dumitru have also been charged in relation to the poisoning and conspiracy to steal from three living victims on three separate occasions between 13 and 31 July last year.

In relation to these three victims, they face three counts of administering poison so as to inflict grievous bodily harm, plus three alternative counts of administering poison and three counts of conspiracy to steal.

The three living victims cannot be named due to reporting restrictions.

They have both been remanded in custody and are due to appear at Oxford Crown Court in relation to all of the charges on Wednesday 3 June 2026.
