Extra patrols in Gloucester aim to tackle anti-social behaviour
There will be an increased police presence on Fridays and Saturdays until 5th December in the city centre
Extra police officers will be patrolling Gloucester city centre over the coming weekends to address ongoing concerns about anti-social behaviour.
Funded by Gloucestershire's Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner through the Neighbourhood Problem Solving Fund, the initiative will increase police presence on Fridays and Saturdays until 5th December, from 2pm to 10pm.
High visibility patrols will focus on areas in and around Station Road and aim to deal with alcohol-related anti-social behaviour.
Inspector James O’Neill is from the Gloucester Neighbourhood Policing Team.
He said, “Following our recent week of action last month to tackle ongoing ASB in Gloucester, we have not stopped in our efforts to deal with this issue.
“People living and working in our city have a right to do so without fear, and we are determined to ensure anyone causing anti-social behaviour is suitably dealt with.”
Physical measures and engagement with support services are also being implemented to aid those involved in street drinking.
