Holiday at Home project in Nailsworth brings community together
The scheme aimed to tackle isolation and foster a sense of community.
Throughout August a Holiday at Home project gave local people the chance to feel like they have had a holiday without expensive tickets or long journeys.
Christ Church in Nailsworth put on activities including crafts, quizzes, singing, shared meals and outings, all inspired by the English countryside theme.
Volunteers helped transform the church into a welcoming holiday space where attendees could relax and have fun together.
Funded by a £500 grant from Cllr Steve Robinson through the Grassroots Neighbourhood Fund, the programme aimed to reduce social isolation and increase community engagement.
Councillor Steve Robinson expressed his joy in supporting the project, emphasising its importance in providing new experiences and fostering a sense of community.
Cllr Paul Hodgkinson highlighted the positive impact of community activities in combating loneliness and building connections, reinforcing their vital role in enhancing wellbeing across Gloucestershire.
Through the combined efforts of volunteers and community groups, the Holiday at Home project successfully brought local residents together, allowing them to create lasting memories and make new friends.
