Two men arrested after altercation breaks out in Gloucester city centre
Both men have been released on bails while enquiries continue
Two men have been arrested following an incident in Gloucester city centre on Thursday (September 3rd).
Gloucestershire Police were alerted to an incident taking place on Station Road at 1:45pm between two men.
Officers later arrested two men - a 19-year-old with no fixed address and a 43-year-old man from Gloucester. Both men were arrested on suspicion of affray, while the 19-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer and racial abuse.
Both men were later released on bail as enquiries into the incident take place. Meanwhile, reinforcements were sent to the area, and issues dispersal notices to another 12 people requiring them to leave the area.
A new dispersal order is now in force and will run until 2pm on Saturday (September 5th), giving police extra powers to order people away from the city centre.
Inspector James O’Neill, from Gloucester Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “Officers will continue to provide a presence in the area to deter any further anti-social behaviour and allow people who live, work and visit our city to do so without fear.”
