Gloucester map shows barred areas for man accused of causing fear
Matthew Lewis subject to new court order following reports of distress among residents
A civil injunction has been issued against 48-year-old Matthew Lewis in Gloucester following complaints about his anti-social behaviour.
Granted by the Cheltenham and Gloucester County Court, the injunction prohibits Lewis from engaging in activities that cause alarm or distress to individuals within Gloucester, with specific areas of restriction including Walkinshaw Court and parts of Westgate and Whitfield Street.
The court's decision comes after residents reported living in fear due to Lewis's conduct.
Effective until 13th August 2027, the injunction includes a power of arrest and prohibits Lewis from returning to Gloucester properties when asked to leave.
Josh Griffiths, City Engagement Officer at Gloucester City Council, commented on the harm Lewis’s behaviour has caused, emphasising the collaborative efforts to address anti-social behaviour.
Claire Long from Gloucester City Homes stated that the injunction provides much-needed relief to affected residents and sends a strong message against such conduct.
Authorities urge anyone witnessing a breach of the injunction to contact the police on 101, or dial 999 in emergencies.
