A man has been arrested after bleach was reportedly poured on the ground at a nature reserve in Gloucester.

Police say shortly after 11.45am on 20th April an off-duty police officer, saw a man spreading bleach and walking with loaves of bread in the area in Kingsway Orchard, off Lyneham Drive.

It is understood that dogs had recently become unwell after eating food left on the ground in the area, but police have said it is unknown if this was the cause.

A Gloucester man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of administering a poisonous substance to a protected animal in connection with the incident.

He has been released on bail as the investigation continues.

Gloucestershire Police are encouraging anyone who has witnessed similar activity, or who may have relevant information, to contact them.

They are particularly interested in receiving any CCTV or mobile phone footage connected to the incident.
