A worldwide business coach from Chelmsford has commented on the "negativity" around business in the UK.

Peter Boolkah has commented on the "tough state" for small businesses in the county and across the country.

He said:

"It's hard enough being a business owner and having sleepless nights having all the pressure and the burden. It's good when the economy is great, they've also got the benefit, but it hasn't been an easy 5-6 years actually.

"Where's the hope? The hope has been replaced by hatred?"

Peter has spoken about a "business of hate" effecting small businesses.

"It's a very negative cycle and it seems to be self perpetuating. You look at social media, all that is a spouting out negativity.

"Don't get me wrong, there are businesses out there making a killing right now, but there's also a tonne of businesses and a tonne of people that are being killed in the process."

Peter spoke about an escape to the negativity, saying:

"Surround yourself with positive people.

"Can you surround yourself with people that would help build you, not break you?

"There are businesses out there doing really, really good work. You need to hang around with business owners that have perhaps found the solutions to problems other people are trying to fix.

"There is absolutely no way you can do it by hanging out with other people that are negative."

"This is just a cycle, it's about looking for the opportunity."

"Where there are challenges, there are also opportunities."
