A woman has appeared at Basildon Magistrates’ Court charged in connection with a fatal car crash in Ongar nearly two years ago.

The Crown Prosecution Service has authorised charges against Shakinnah Storey, 28, of Northbrooks, Harlow, for causing the death of Purity Njagi.

The crash occurred on Epping Road on Monday 23rd September 2024 and involved two cars.

Purity Njagi, 35, from Harlow, was a passenger in one of the vehicles and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Storey denied the charge of causing death by careless or inconsiderate driving.

She has been released on unconditional bail ahead of her next court appearance at Basildon Crown Court set for 4th September.

The investigation into the collision was carried out thoroughly before reaching this charge.
