Wildlife filmmaker and photographer Gordon Buchanan is calling on animal lovers to share their favourite photo they have taken at Colchester Zoo.

A competition is being run to win tickets to his tour, and he wants to see pictures of African lions, tigers, and Malayan sun bears.

Gordon will select his favourite photograph, with the winner receiving four tickets and an animal adoption package from the Colchester Zoological Society.

His tour: Lions Tigers and Bears with Gordon Buchanan, visits Colchester Charter Hall on February 19th.

In interview with Greatest Hits Radio Essex News, he said that he wants to see "inventive" photos, and that his best tip is to "immerse" yourself.

He said that lions, tigers and bears are "iconic species":

"On the one hand they can be quite scary, they're big with sharp pointy bits on them, we are fearful of those species. But they are also incredibly, incredibly cute.

"And I think there's just something about that people engage with, bears particularly. I think there can't be anyone in the country that hasn't had children or children grow up in their house that hasn't had a bear at least somewhere in their house.

"What I realise is that having made programmes about these different groups of animals, is that people absolutely love them. They're majestic.

"I would say that I hope to see something where I think 'Well I wish I had taken that'.

"It's really not about the camera and the quality of the camera.

"I want to see something that's probably more creative."
