West Mersea derelict building fire suspected to be deliberate

A fire that broke out at a derelict building in West Mersea over the weekend is believed to have been started deliberately.

Firefighters were called to the scene on Coast Road at 1:45am on Sunday (10 May) and crews from Colchester and Coggeshall stations managed to extinguish the blaze by 4:39am.

The fire service believe the blaze may have been started deliberately.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the suspected arson to report it to FireStoppers, a CrimeStoppers initiative dedicated to preventing fires in the UK.
