Southend drug dealer who tried to escape on an e-bike is jailed for two years
Klavi Likcani was sentenced at Basildon Crown Court on Tuesday.
A drug dealer who tried to escape arrest by leading police on a 60mph chase has been sentenced to two years in jail.
21-year-old Klavi Likcani, of Bedford, Southport, was spotted by officers from Southend Neighbourhood Policing Team on an e-bike. They then pursued him through the streets before he dumped the bike and attempted to run away.
One of the officers, PC Glen Vincent, caught up with Likcani using his discarded e-bike then tackled him to the ground and arrested him.
Officers also recovered CCTV of Likcani throwing a bag of drugs into a front garden as he fled from the police.
Likcani was refused bail and pleaded guilty to possession of a Class A drug with intent to supply, and driving a vehicle without due care and attention, a licence or insurance.
On Tuesday the 8th of September, Likcani was sentenced to two years in prison at Basildon Crown Court.
Sergeant Alex Farr of Southend NPT’s Proactive Problem-Solving Team said: “When Likcani saw the patrol car he tried to escape at dangerously high speeds in a built-up area, putting the public in danger."
“His attempts to evade officers were never going to succeed and we swiftly arrested him."
“Drug dealing is linked to a wide range of offences from serious violence to anti-social behaviour and our team are out on patrol across the city looking for people acting suspiciously and being visible in areas where we know drug dealers operate."
“If you’re carrying drugs in Southend, we will hunt you down, arrest you and put you in front of a court.”
The borders and immigration services have been notified of the sentence as Likcani is an Albanian national and may be liable for deportation.
