Southend United boss Kieron Dyer has warned his players not to get complacent ahead of their match against Solihull Moors.

The Shrimpers have won both of their opening matches.

"I've been a really confident manager with some of the things I've come out with but this game on Saturday scares me in a way.

"And it scares me because this is probably the first game, that since I've been here, that we're expected to win and win quite comfortably as well.

"To win two games back-to-back at two kind of like 'bogey' teams, 'bogey' grounds, and then you're expected to beat a team that hasn't started well.

"We've got a really young squad and complacency can settle in. So the message all week is don't get complacent because football can kick you in an uncomfortable place at times."

The Southend United manager said the game would still be difficult, as he noted Solihull Moors "run hard." He said his priority over the week leading up to the game is telling players "this is not an easy game."

Southend's wins give them six points for the National League, putting them near the top of the table.

Solihull Moors sit in 23rd with 0 points scored yet in the season.

Vontae Daley-Campbell, right-back for the Shrimpers, said "the mood is high" amongst the squad following two victories:

"We know it is a long season and it's only the first two games, but its nice. Everyone's happy and it's good because we are a new group and we've kind of shown what we're about."

Speaking about the team's chances this weekend he said:

"They are a hard-working team and if we don't turn up they'll just run through us."
