Fire crews tackle blaze in Colchester
The public are asked to keep clear of the fire at Middlewick Ranges.
Fire crews were sent to extinguish a fire in Colchester this morning.
The blaze had started at Middlewick Ranges on Mersea Road at around twenty to ten and around 50 firefighters were deployed to deal with it.
Residents were asked to avoid the area as the crews were using the surrounding roads to park fire engines and access water hydrants.
At 11:45am, the service announced that the fire was surrounded and that firefighters were working well to extinguish it. They also asked that the public should continue to avoid the area.
