Essex student police officer charged with assault

20-year-old to stand trial next year over alleged attacks on colleagues

A student police officer in Essex has been charged with two counts of assault by beating and will stand trial next year.

Harry James, 20, from Southend, appeared at Basildon Magistrates’ Court yesterday (18th December). His trial is scheduled for 6th January 2027.

The charges relate to incidents that allegedly took place in May this year involving two female colleagues while James was on duty at the Essex Police College.

James, who is currently suspended from duty, will remain under investigation until the trial.
