NHS Essex has received positive news with Health Minister Karin Smyth expressing government support for the development of a neighbourhood health centre in Maldon.

The minister’s comments in Parliament on 14th October have bolstered ongoing efforts to secure investment in modern health facilities for the area.

This development follows significant public feedback regarding proposals for St Peter's Hospital.

Collaborations between NHS Essex, local residents, community representatives, and partners are aimed at preserving existing services while planning a new health facility.

Tom Abell, Chief Executive of NHS Essex, expressed gratitude for community support and campaigning efforts.

"The recognition by the Minister highlights the need for investment," Abell said, thanking groups such as the Save Maldon Medical Services Group and Maldon District Council.

NHS Essex plans to work closely with partners to finalise arrangements and establish a project team alongside local councils and community committees.

The organisation remains committed to turning shared ambitions for modern and accessible health facilities in Maldon into reality.

Residents will be kept informed as plans progress and next steps are defined.
