Pair sentenced for drug offences and gun possession in Essex
Sentences handed down for cocaine and cannabis supply operation
Two men from Essex have been sentenced for their roles in supplying drugs and possessing deadly weapons.
Elliot Reddington, 36, of Ashingdon Road, Rochford, and Joe Mongan, 27, of Fairfax Drive, Westcliff, were identified as suspects in a drug supply operation in the south of Essex in 2025.
Through an extensive investigation, officers established the pair were laundering money and trying to conceal their activities, distancing themselves from the Class A and Class B drugs they were selling.
Early-morning warrants in February 2026 led to their arrest at an address in Westcliff, where officers seized large quantities of cocaine and cannabis, several knives, a handgun with ammunition, multiple mobile phones linked to drug dealings and thousands of pounds in cash.
Both Reddington and Mongan pleaded guilty to all charges before the Basildon Crown Court trial and were sentenced on 5th October.
Reddington received nine years and nine months for supply of cocaine, supply of cannabis, possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition, possession of a weapon, possessing criminal property, and money laundering.
Mongan was sentenced to eight years and eight months for supply of cocaine, supply of cannabis, possession of a prohibited firearm, possession of a weapon, and possessing criminal property.
Speaking after the trial, Detective Inspector Yoni Adler of the Serious and Organised Crime Unit said: "Reddington and Mongan were prepared to use deadly weapons if challenged over their crimes. It was crucial we stopped them as quickly as possible to keep the public safe."
Adler added: “Drug dealers profit off the misery they cause to others, which is why we are working tirelessly to disrupt these enterprises."
Essex Police confirmed that a timetable has been set in the courts to establish the value of their offending, and what can be confiscated from them under the Proceeds of Crime Act.
