A dispersal order has been issued in Southend following reports of anti-social behaviour and large gatherings of youths across the city.

The order, effective as of 9:30pm today, grants officers the authority to instruct individuals causing or suspected of causing disturbances to leave the designated area or risk arrest.

The impacted regions include the seafront, High Street, Marine Parade, Warrior Square, Victoria and Royals shopping centres, as well as Southend Victoria and Southend Central train stations.

Inspector Emma Wells from Southend's Local Policing Team commented:

"Antisocial behaviour has a real impact on people’s sense of safety, and I want residents and businesses in the city to know that we understand the impact this type of behaviour has to know that we will not tolerate behaviour that causes fear, damage, or disruption in our community."

"We will be in the area this evening, come and talk to us if you have any concerns. We’re here to ensure everyone can enjoy the weekend."

Authorities are collaborating with various partners to manage the situation and allow individuals to continue their activities with minimal disruption.
